Robert Vega Jr., Bass-Baritone Vocalist, Composer, and Lyricist has sung in 10 languages and in over a dozen genres in formal concert performances. A graduate from the University of Texas El Paso, he had the honor of studying under the acclaimed voice studios of Korean opera star Dr. Sang-In Han, Dr. Orit Eylon, Dr. Garineh Avakian, and Metropolitan Opera sensation, Mr. Brian Downen.
Singing the most versatile vocal senior recital in Texas history, Robert repeated a professional presentation in seven languages and a repertoire spanning over 500 years on a beautiful riverfront performance on October 8th of 2023 in El Paso, Texas.
With the El Paso Opera, Robert performed in La Traviata in June 2023, in Tosca in 2016, the 20th anniversary of the EPO in 2015, and The Barber of Seville in 2013. With the El Paso Symphony Orchestra, Robert sang in The Verdi Requiem and the infamous Carmina Burana respectively in 2014. In 2022, he premiered his original aria compositions Timeless and At Last I am Free in Yokota, Japan for the United States Air Force and the Space Force as facilitator of their annual resiliency conference for tier II officers. These videos are now part of military officer education to boost US troop morale.
For the aria Timeless, he composed for voice, flute, two trumpets, trombone, two violins, viola, cello, string bass, piano, and wrote the lyrics. This piece is arranged by Dr. Dominic Dousa, the graduate professor of composition at UTEP and resident world authority of music. In 2014, Vega was the featured vocal artist, with classical guitar extraordinaire, Danielle Anaya for the Lustrous Unity of the Arts red carpet event.
In 2019, he was the featured artist and speaker for the Render Prison Reform Conference in El Paso, TX with the local municipality. In 2016, he debuted in his 1st film, La Piedra as protagonist. In 2013, he played the role of Signor Diluso in A same named opera short for UTEP Opera.
In 2012, Robert was the featured key note speaker and sang in a professional presentation for nationally renowned Judge Robert Achondo and the El Paso Police Dept. accompanied by pianist Alex Loeaza for their annual banquet. Vega has sung in countless venues around the El Paso borderplex region and teaches singing in his private voice studio.
A man of many facets and with awards in such diverse fields as boxing, poetry, and chess, it is long overdue for Robert to formally launch as a professional singer on a global level.
